The Science Journal for the Wall Street Journal posted an article about a reclusive Russian Mathematician who is likely to be the winner for possibly proving the Poincare Conjecture.  Since you have to have a subscription to the journal in order to read the articles, this link is may not work after a few days, but here it is.  On the other hand, Math World News also posted an article of this likelihood here.  Those of you interested in topology may find this quite intriguing.
